The Young Church are usually present for the first part of the service which usually lasts around 20 minutes and typically takes the form:
- Possible hymn or song before the service begins
- Introduction by Steward
- Hymn
- Prayer
- Video Song chosen by yourself or a recommendation from a Young Church Leader
- Bringing forward of Offering
- Prayer and Young Church leave
After the Young Church has left, the service continues with 4 or 5 hymns, prayers, Bible reading(s) and sermon. The service usually lasts over an hour, but not too much more than an hour and a quarter.
We use SongSelect for the projection of words for our services this covers all Christian Copyright Licensing Institute covered songs and those in the public domain. We are most familiar with Songs of Fellowship 1-6 and Hymns & Psalms, and to some extent with Singing the Faith (note there is some copyright issues with songs from Singing the Faith).
The Tech team will project the words on the screen.
The Lead Musician for the week will help choose the songs for the service. Due to the different skills our musicians possess it helps some of them to begin planning a number of weeks in advance. Some musicians are also restricted on what they can play so choosing some hymns would prove difficult.
Songs, hymns and running order to be agreed by Friday morning to allow time for photocopying etc.
Bible readings are usually read by a member of the congregation. They will be projected on the screen. We are able to project NIV, RSV and The Message.
A member of the Prayer Ministry Team, the Prayer Warrior, will pray for the preparation of the service during the week and also during the service. If you would like a member of the team to lead intercessory prayers, please give at least a week’s notice and contact Sue Carr who will arrange this for you.
Members of the Prayer Team wear yellow badges and are available to the congregation both during and after worship.
The tech team can arrange for your message to be accompanied by a Powerpoint, or to include video clips etc. We ask that PowerPoint's don't include animations as these do not translate into our software.
Please contact Peter Hutton by Wednesday with any requests.
You are free to use an extempore or liturgical form of service. If the latter, please let the Tech Team have it by Wednesday.
The Young Church are often present for the Communion, normally coming in after the Prayers of Intercession or sermon. In this case they are normally not present for the first part of the service, and there will be no Video Song for them.
Please consult the tech team cmctechteam@gmail.com if you have any questions about technical matters. Please add all IT requests to the Order of Service by Wednesday morning, eg PowerPoint files and urls of YouTube clips, so that the technicians have time to input them into our software. However, we recognise that last minute alterations sometimes need to be made and this is usually not a problem.
Worship at CMC is very much a team effort and details of those involved this week can be found at the end of this letter.
The Duty Steward will contact you before the service and it would be appreciated if the Order of Service could be sent to the Church Office by Wednesday morning.
Finally, if you need any clarification or if there are any other ways in which we can support you in your preparations, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
